Each of us is here to contribute a verse to the powerful play. There's something really important to you and your world that for some reason you have not started. What's in your way? Maybe it's time to stop procrastinating and get on with it.

Four years ago Robin Williams decided to leave. I remember that day well. While I have a great deal of empathy for what must have been unbearable pain, I don't fully understand the decision. Perhaps no one ever will. All I know is the world is a great deal poorer for his absence.

It's a truism I think that many people famous for their capacity to make people laugh carry in the darkness a tortured soul. But I don't remember him primarily for his comic genius. When I think about the cinematic moments during which I felt so moved or the principles of life I carry with me today, it's the dramatic work that stands as his true master stroke. I feel sad that he might have missed the opportunity for so many people to pay homage and gratitude to his spirit and the body of work he left behind.

His passing is an important reminder to take action on what's most important. "The human race is filled with passion: poetry, beauty, romance, love–these are what we stay alive for."

This day is your life. You have been alive for a certain amount of time and will be here for an uncertain amount of time. We all leave this earth. It's only matter of when and how. That's a grim and inconvenient reality that most of us have become numb to. But there is a certain grace in acknowledging the terrifying finality of life–that maybe every once in a while, just maybe, we get to create something special, something that lives on and makes the day a little brighter for everyone else.
